Peru wins award in Hong Kong tourism event
Peru was voted the “Best Exploration Route” during Hong Kong's International Travel Expo (ITE) that was held on June 11-14 with the participation of more than 600 exhibitors from 50 countries of Africa, America, Europe, Asia and Middle East.
In a contest called “New Travel Routes 2009,” eight countries were voted the most romantic, charming, adorable, adventurous and mysterious routes among other categories.
The contest was held among readers of U magazine and attendees to this event, which was visited by 75,640 people.
Over 11,000 visitors were tourism professionals, travel agencies, transport companies, hotels and journalists.
Peru's Tourism and Export Promotion Board (PromPeru) attended this fair in order to promote Peruvian attractions among Asian consumers.
During this event, Hong Kong journalist Celia Cheng, who wrote the first tourist guide of Peru in Chinese language, contributed with the PromPeru campaign.
On this occasion, Cheng presented a photographic exhibition of Lake Titicaca and Cusco, and she was the main lecturer of a seminar called “Descubre Peru” (Discover Peru), in which she described her experiences in Peru.
